My name is Raiya but mom and dad like to call me Raiya Jeanne. I was born at 1:24 pm on August 15, 2022 at the Methodist Women’s Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska and weighed 7lbs and 12 ounces. Although, from the start, I faced many obstacles entering this world, I came into this world welcomed by my loving parents and siblings.
I spent the first few days at the hospital but soon I was able to come home to our new family farmstead in the country outside of Shelby, Iowa. It was such a peaceful homecoming with no loud beeping machines or doctors or nurses poking me and waking me up during naps. Just lots of love and cuddles from my family. To be honest, it felt pretty awesome being the center of attention. I also enjoyed all the visits from my grandparents, aunts and uncles and my cousins.
On August 28, 2022, I joined my great grandparents: Leonard and Vivian Akin, Robert Wullschleger and Robert Andersen in heaven and I wish I could have stayed longer. My time with my family was only 13 days, but I know I taught my family a new kind of love and responsibility. They all loved me and I will forever live in the hearts of my dad and mom, Robert Kenneth and Rachel Jeanne (Wullschleger) Christensen; my siblings: Rebekah, Reghan & Renae Christensen all of Shelby, Iowa; grandparents: Robert & Janell Wullschleger of Harlan, Iowa; Ronald & Katherine Christensen of Irwin, Iowa; great grandparents Margaret Wullschleger of Madrid, Iowa; Kenneth & Lois Christensen of Harlan and Marilyn Andersen of Exira, Iowa; aunts & uncles: Paul Wullschleger of Harlan; Gregory & Leesa Christensen of Manning, Iowa; Ronald & LeeAnn Christensen of Manilla, Iowa; Angela & Corey Davis of Irwin; cousins and other relatives.
