Raymond A. Schleimer, son of Anthony “Tony” and Elenor (Thraen) Schleimer, was born near Defiance, Iowa on June 6, 1940. He was the third born of five children. In 1941, his family moved to a farm south of Panama, Iowa. Raymond was baptized at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Defiance and confirmed at St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Panama. He attended country school during grade school and graduated from St. Mary’s High School in 1958.

After graduation, Raymond farmed before enlisting in the United States Army where he worked as a Military Policeman in Germany from March 7, 1962 to his honorable discharge on February 24, 1964. When Raymond returned home from the Army, he continued his farming career until his retirement.

On June 24, 1972, Raymond was united in marriage to Barbara Steinkuehler in Panama. From this marriage, they raised seven children: Loren, Carol, Jon, Dennis, Dale, Joan and Jami.

Raymond died on September 25, 2018 at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska attaining the age of seventy-eight years, three months and nineteen days. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his daughter Carol Pauley - Hesser and brother Charles Schleimer.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of forty-six years Barbara Schleimer of Panama, Iowa; children: Loren Pauley and his wife LuAnn of Portsmouth, Iowa; Jon Pauley of Denison, Iowa; Dennis Pauley and his wife Mary of Panama, Iowa; Dale Pauley and his wife Sharon of Panama, Iowa; Joan Armentrout of Harlan, Iowa; Jami Schleimer and his wife Anna of Elk Horn, Iowa; 17 grandchildren; sisters Alice Rau of Portsmouth, Iowa; Marilyn Alfers of Neola, Iowa; Eileen and her husband Ken Pauley of Panama, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
