Rhonda Su Edgecomb, daughter of Clarence and Alice Juanita (Jensen) McDermott, was born on December 15, 1964 in Harlan, Iowa. She grew up on her family farm and was baptized and confirmed at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church outside of Jacksonville, Iowa. She attended and graduated from Elk Horn Kimballton school with the class of 1983.
After high school, Rhonda attended Nebraska College of Business in Omaha, Nebraska where she studied accounting and made her home in Council Bluffs. While in school, she met Tim Edgecomb and they began dating. She took a job with the YMCA in Omaha. Rhonda and Tim were married on April 11, 1987 at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville and the couple later made their home in Harlan.
Once moving to Harlan, Rhonda worked at the H & R Block before starting her longtime career with Western Engineering of Harlan in the payroll department where she was employed for twenty-two years. She had just recently started a new job at Variety Distributors in Harlan as an Assistant Buyer.
Rhonda loved being a mom and was very proud of her kids throughout all their school and sporting events. Becoming a grandmother was the highlight of her life as her grandchildren were her world. She loved shopping for them and making trips to the zoo so she could spend every minute she could with them.
Rhonda died on April 15, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of fifty-three years and four months. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Don McDermott.
She is survived by her husband Tim Edgecomb of Harlan; her children: Alisha Edgecomb of Harlan and Joshua Edgecomb of Avoca, Iowa; grandchildren: Jaxen and Xavier Ranney and Jersey and Jameson Myers; brothers: Larry McDermott and his wife Connie of Harlan; David McDermott and his wife Janet of Story City, Iowa; Dennis McDermott and his wife Julianne of Milwaukie, Oregon and Dallas McDermott and his wife Lois of Johnston, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
