On August 5, 2008, Richard Dale Adams of Ricketts, departed this life unto Eternity, entering into the loving embrace of his Heavenly Father, succumbing after a long battle with cancer. Born on July 14, 1946 in Storm Lake, Iowa, Richard lived the majority of his years within the greater Boyer River Valley, but most recently in Denison and Ricketts. A 1965 graduate of Denison High School, Richard attended Iowa State University studying architecture before returning home, then serving his country as a National Guardsman. He embarked on a wide and varied career path working for Farmer?s Co-op, Great Plains and finally Wesco Industries, where he had worked for 17 years. Richard was also a general building contractor with business partner and friend Ed Studebaker of Carroll, Iowa. An avid outdoorsman, Richard enjoyed fishing, hunting, wood-working and walks in the woods. Kind-hearted, charitable and hard-working, Rich, as he was commonly known, leaves behind a legacy of faith and love within those of his family who survive him: four children, Michelle Thieme and her husband Mark of Naples, Florida; Danelle Frank and her husband Mike of Rockford, Michigan as well as their two sons Gage and Max; Alisha Adams of Naples, Florida; and Jeremy Adams of Waukon, Iowa. Richard is also survived by his mother, Harriet Gray of Denison, Iowa; brother, Dean Adams of Manning, Iowa; brother, Don Adams and his wife, Sandy, of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and their two children; sister, Joyce Chase and her husband, J.T. of Sioux City, Iowa and their three children; former wife, Glenda Adams of Denison, Iowa; former wife, Marie Adams of Logan, Iowa. Richard is also survived by two aunts, an uncle and many cousins. He was predeceased by baby brother Daryl Adams, his step-father Zane Gray of Kiron, Iowa, and his father, Victor Adams of Clinton, Iowa.
