Richard "Rich" Grant Plumb, son of Francis Benton and Ruth Gretchen (Parker) Plumb was born on February 7, 1947 in Harlan, Iowa. He grew up learning the family business, Plumb & Sons Tiling and Trenching, along side his father and siblings. Rich graduated from Irwin-Kirkman High School in 1965. Following graduation, Rich met the love of his life, Janet Fischer. They were united in marriage on May 20th, 1968. To this union two children were born: Jeremy and Joy. Richard was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 and was sent to Vietnam a few months after completing basic training.
Rich had 2 grandsons: Dane and Brody. He enjoyed watching their sporting events and spending time with them which was code for "putting them to work". Dane enlisted in the National Guard and he always enjoyed hearing what he was up to and keeping track of his current rank. He also enjoyed growing a big garden with enough sweet corn for all. Fishing was a favorite hobby of Rich's. He went on many fishing trips with his buddies to Michigan. His family could always count on him bringing his homemade ice cream for dessert at family events. This was a tradition he carried on from his dad. Rich always had a good time going to the casino. He was very lucky at the slots and even was able to travel with his daughter Joy on a gambling trip to Laughlin.
