Rick Lee Flynn
November 17, 1961 — March 15, 2018
Rick Lee Flynn, son of Richard Flynn and Glenyce Jean Obrecht, was born in Canton, Illinois on November 17, 1961. While younger, Rick’s family moved to Harlan, Iowa where he was baptized at the United Methodist Church.
While growing up, Rick attended workshops at REM Leadway in Avoca and Shelby, Iowa. He later became a resident of the REM Leadway Center in Shelby but spent a lot of time with his family in Harlan.
Rick loved visiting the Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha, Nebraska and riding the train throughout the zoo. He also loved watching John Wayne movies and any show featuring trains. He also enjoyed riding his three wheeled bicycle.
Rick died on March 15, 2018 at the Methodist Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska having attained the age of fifty-six years, three months and twenty-six days. He is survived by his mother, Glenyce Jean Wendelin of Harlan, Iowa; his father, Richard Flynn and his wife Bonnie of Perry Park, Kentucky; brother Robb Flynn and his wife Lauren of Katy, Texas; step brothers Rick Turner and his wife Shelley of Nabb, Indiana and Rob Turner and his wife Holly of La Grange, Kentucky; nieces and nephews; aunts and uncles; other relatives and many friends.
