Robbie Reed Mcmullen

Robbie Reed McMullen was born in Denison, Iowa, September 23, 1994, the daughter of John and Sherry Garside McMullen.  She was raised in Denison, graduating from high school with the class of 2013.  During her high school years Robbie participated in Soccer for four years; Show Choir, Chorus and Band for four years; Speech for three years; Track her senior year and was a basketball and football cheerleader for four years.  In addition to her school activities she also went on Mission Trips with her church youth group to Montana, Michigan, St. Louis and Haiti.  She furthered her education at Iowa Western Community College for two years and was most recently employed at Verizon Wireless World in Denison.In her leisure time Robbie enjoyed playing the piano, shopping, technology, especially phones, going to Okoboji, playing in the Hispanic Soccer League and spending time with her nieces and nephews and friends.She was a member of Grace Evangelical Free Church in Denison.Robbie died Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the scene of a motor vehicle accident on Highway 39, north of Denison.  At the time of her death she was 21 years, 8 months and 19 days of age.Robbie was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather Robert McMullen, one uncle, Dennis Garside, and a niece and nephew, Olivia and Griffin Nielsen.Those remaining to cherish her memory include her parents John and Sherry McMullen of Denison, Iowa; sisters: Callie (Alan) Nemitz of Denison, Iowa and Abbie (Jerod) Nielsen of Irwin, Iowa; 6 nieces and nephews: Autumn, Camdyn, Ayvah and Cambrie Nemitz of Denison, Iowa and Carter and Addilynn Nielsen of Irwin, Iowa; maternal grandparents, Rex and Ruth Garside of Denison, Iowa; paternal grandmother, Ila McMullen of Ida Grove, Iowa; special friend, Jim Mink of Denison, Iowa; aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Denison, Iowa with Pastor Brian Rihner officiating. Music by members of the Grace E-Free Worship Team was “Because He Lives”, “It Is Well With My Soul”, and “Where I Belong” with Deb Lindgren serving as pianist. Honorary Pallbearers were Ciara Dotzler, Sydney Kinzer, Kareli Garcia, Briley Krohnke, Iris Torres, Kevin Cary, Andrew Overton and Robbie’s other close friends and classmates. Pallbearers were Ron Lechtenberg, Dwight Boeck, Mark Jorgensen, Wesley Furne, Richard Preul and Dan Dotzler. Interment, with special music by friends, was at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison, Iowa. Following the graveside rites and burial the family invited everyone to join them at the church for fellowship and a luncheon provided by the Ladies of Grace. A visitation was held at Our Savior Lutheran Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 16, 2016.
