Robert “Bob” Lee Jacobsen, son of Fred and LaVerne (Kahl) Jacobsen was born on November 8, 1931, at the Jacobsen family farm southeast of Hancock, Iowa. He was one of 4 children born. He was baptized and confirmed at the Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa and is a member of the Hancock Methodist Church. Bob attended Valley No. 5 country school and later attended school in Hancock, graduating with the class of 1950.

On February 2, 1951, Bob was united in marriage to Norma Rapp at the Silver Creek Church west of Hancock. To this union, two children were born: Darrell and Diane. Bob and Norma began farming in 1952 in the Hancock area, later moving to the Thies farm south of Hancock. In late 2017 Bob became a resident at the Oakland Manor.

The highlight of Bob and Norma’s lives has been enjoying their family most of all, also spending time with friends and “horse friends”. They loved taking their Belgian horses to the Baraboo Circus Parade and attending the local parades and fairs.

Bob passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Oakland Manor in Oakland, Iowa attaining the age of eighty-seven years, six months and ten days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings Elizabeth Bruhns and Jack Jacobsen.

Left to cherish his memory, his wife of sixty-eight years Norma Jacobsen of Oakland, Iowa; children Darrell Jacobsen and his wife Marcia of rural Hancock, Iowa; Diane and her husband Carlin Copenhaver of rural Treynor, Iowa; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; brother Douglas Jacobsen and his wife Kathy of rural Hancock, Iowa, other relatives and many friends.
