Robert "Bob” Leon Jorgensen was born on September 14, 1944, in Avoca, Iowa, to his proud parents, Robert and Leona (Holtz) Jorgensen. He graduated from AvoHa High School in 1962. One of the cornerstones of Bob's life was his faith, which he held dear throughout his life. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he actively served on the church council. On July 6, 1968, Bob exchanged vows with his beloved Connie Nielsen, at Trinity Lutheran Church. To this union 3 children were born: Steven, Jill and Michael.
Bob proudly served in the United States Navy, dedicating three years of his life to the nation, where he worked in the engine room on The Destroyer. Following his military service, Bob found a second family at Wayne Feeds, where he worked as a truck driver for an astounding 30 years. He juggled his career with farming. Bob served as the Post Commander for the Fred Funston American Legion Post in Avoca, Iowa, leaving an indelible mark on the local veterans' community. Bobs grandkids loved having him teach them to drive in his red pickup. He cherished every moment he spent attending the various activities of his grandchildren, finding joy in their achievements. His Saturday mornings were dedicated to his breakfast club family, where they shared laughter, stories, and friendship.
In the red truck, in the church pew, on the open road, and at the breakfast table, Bob's presence will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of faith, family, and community. Bob passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2023, at his home, having attained the age of 78 years, 11 months and 26 days. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Connie; brother David.
