Robert Charles Kramer
September 25, 1934 — December 24, 2016
Robert Charles Kramer, son of Joe P. And Eleanor (Assmann) Kramer, was born on September 25, 1934 on a farm near Earling, Iowa. He attended school through the eighth grade at St. Joseph’s Catholic School and was baptized at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling.
Robert remained on the family farm until he was united in marriage to Marjorie Rosenow on December 27, 1958. Bob and Marge made their home in Tennant where they were the parents of five children: James, Sharon, Julie, Janice and Carolyn. They became members of St. Michael’s Church in Harlan where they were long time members. Bob worked for the Cox Grain and Feed in Tennant before taking a job at with Farm Service Coop in 1972 where he worked until his retirement in 1998.
Bob and Marge loved spending time together especially in their younger days when they spent many nights square dancing and polka dancing. They were both also active at St. Michael’s in the church and the school where Bob was the leader of the paper and cardboard recycling fundraiser. Bob and Marge also later owned and operated K’s Krafts where together they enjoyed their love of woodworking and crafts. They also spent many years babysitting their grandchildren and attending their church, school and athletic events.
Marge died on November 3, 2014 and after her death, Bob remained at home in Harlan until February of 2016 when he became a resident of the Elm Crest Retirement Community. This is where he died on December 24, 2016 having attained the age of eighty-two years, two months and twenty-nine days. In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Janice Kramer; brothers and sisters: Joe “Jack” Kramer, Albert and his wife Delores Kramer, Marie and her husband Clarence Freund, Alfons “Mike” Kramer and Leonard Kramer.
He is survived by his children: James Kramer and his wife Judy of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Sharon Kramer of Omaha, Nebraska; Julie Kramer of Omaha and Carolyn and her husband Bruce Blum of Harlan; grandchildren: Nate Kramer; Mikayla Blum; Alex Blum; Jenna Blum; his sister Marge Klein of Harlan and brother Leo Kramer and his wife Marj of Omaha; sisters-in-law Madonna Kramer of Earling and Anna Mae Kramer of Harlan; brother-in-law Don Rosenow and his wife Lois of Tipton, Iowa; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
