Robin Thomsen was born January 28, 1936 in Monroe, NE to Arthur and Elsie (Schilling) Larimore. She was baptized at the Monroe Evangelical Free Church. Her family moved to Avoca, IA when she was only one year old. She was raised there and graduated Avoca High School in 1953. Following graduation, she worked at Iowa Power and Light Company in Avoca, IA; Olive's Dress Shop in Atlantic, IA; and the Atlantic News Telegraph in Atlantic, IA.
Robin found the love of her life when she met Eugene Thomsen in the Spring of 1956. They were married only a few months later at the Avoca Presbyterian Church on November 10, 1956. To this union, three daughters were born: Lori, Dawn, and Sally. Robin was confirmed at the Lutheran church while she and Gene were living in Atlantic, and was then very active in the church. She taught Sunday school and served as president and treasurer of the Ladies' Aid organization. She also served on the church council as stewardship head and secretary. She was a member of the church prayer group and many other groups. Robin was a member of P.E.O. Chapter GC in Avoca.
Robin loved being a homemaker, wife, and mom, and she treasured her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many activities, including golf with friends, bridge clubs, reading, gardening, sewing, and family vacations. She also had a love for traveling. Robin and Gene traveled to Canada, Ireland, Denmark, Germany, the Bahamas, Hawaii, and many destinations throughout the continental United States.
Robin passed away on January 10, 2023. She is preceded in death by parents Arthur and Elsie Larimore; siblings Don Larimore, Phyllis Bintz, and Colleen Rutenbeck; sister-in-law Hattie Larimore; brothers-in-law Earl Bintz and Charles Rutenbeck; and a number of Thomsen in-laws and spouses.
Robin is survived by husband Gene "Beaner" Thomsen of Elk Horn, IA; children Lori (Paul) Petters of Omaha, NE; Dawn (Dave) Schueman of Avoca, IA; Sally Jacobsen of Avoca, IA; grandchildren Emily Blake, Maggie (Joe) Wenndt, Tessa (Evan) Randolph, Sam (Jenna) Schueman, Davis (Josie) Jacobsen, Ben (Caitlyn) Jacobsen, and Hana (Cody) Smoot; great-grandchildren Maysen, Lucas, Genevieve, Lane, and one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
