Ronald Gene Breining

Ronald Gene Breining was born May 1, 1941 to Earl and Dagney (Rasmussen) Breining at home in Shelby County, Iowa.
He graduated from Elk Horn-Kimballton High School in 1959 and went on to Simpson College to play baseball. He married Margaret Hald in 1964 and 4 children were born to this union: Stephanie Ann, John Christian, Christopher Ronald, and Anne Maria.
Ron worked for a short time in Finance in Sioux City before returning in 1972 to Kimballton to run the family dairy farm. Following farming he drove semi for Smithway Motor Xpress Corp. After moving to Elk Horn in 1995 and retiring in 2009, he drove school bus for Exira-Elk Horn-Kimballton Schools and did part-time crop adjusting for Farmer’s Mutual. Ron loved all sports and enjoyed many fishing trips with family and friends.
Ron passed away after a brief stay in Myrtue Memorial Hospital on September 25, 2022, having attained the age of 81 years, 4 months, and 24 days.
In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are son Christopher Ronald, sisters Murriel Petersen and Diana Juelsgaard, brother-in-law Lloyd “Pete” Petersen, son-in-law Michael Swanson, and granddaughter Ellery Bieker.
Those carrying on his memory are children Stephanie Swanson of Kimballton, IA, John Breining of Casey, IA, and Anne (Craig) Bieker of Harlan, IA; grandchildren Justine Christensen of Portsmouth, IA, Samantha Christensen of Shelby, IA, Ben Christensen of Kimballton, IA, Danielle (Rey) Bell of Omaha, NE, and Elsie and Emmery Bieker of Harlan, IA; 7 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jim Juelsgaard of Kimballton, IA; special friend Leanne Montgomery of Marne, IA; and nieces, nephews, and friends.
