Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014 at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa Legion of Mary Rosary: 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa Visitation: From 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday, June 13, 2014 at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa with a Parish Vigil to be held at 7:00 p.m. Burial: St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Denison, Iowa Rosemarie Penn was born in Pocahontas, Iowa, November 26, 1937, the daughter of Peter Carl and Anna Werrlich Kampfe Storr. Raised there, she received her elementary and high school education at Sacred Heart Grade and High School, graduating in 1955. Following high school she furthered her education at Briar Cliff College in Sioux City, Iowa, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree in 1959 with a Major in Medical Technology and Minors in Chemistry, Biology and English. Upon completion of her education, Rosemarie moved to Dubuque, Iowa, to serve her Medical Technician Internship at Xavier Hospital. It was there that she met her future husband, Richard Penn. Rosemarie and Richard were united in marriage November 26, 1959, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Pocahontas, Iowa. Their union was blessed with five children: Roseann, Richard “Ted”, George, James, and Tom. They made their home in Waukesha, Wisconsin, where they were employed at Waukesha Memorial Hospital from 1959 to 1960. From Waukesha they moved to East Gary, Indiana, to work at East Gary Medical Center until 1961 when they moved to Denison, Iowa. After raising her family, Rosemarie was employed at St. Rose of Lima Catholic School in Denison for a number of years. In her leisure hours, Rosemarie enjoyed watching Jeopardy, crocheting, embroidery, board and card games, crossword puzzles, and was an avid reader. To her family she was known as the historian, researching and recording their entire genealogy. She was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa, St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild, Legion of Mary, and attended Adoration every Thursday. As a member of the Crawford County Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, she volunteered one day a month at the hospital and every Tuesday would find Rosemarie and Richard calling Bingo at the Denison Care Center. Rosemarie died Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at her home in Denison having been blessed with 76 years, 6 months, and 15 days of life. Those preceding her in death include her parents Peter Carl and Anna Storr, three brothers: Major Richard Storr, George Storr, and Roy Kampfe, and two sisters-in-law: Mary Storr and Yvonne Kampfe. Those remaining to cherish Rosemarie’s memory include her husband Richard Penn of Denison; 5 children: Roseann Penn of Northfield, Minnesota; Richard “Ted” Penn of Shreveport, Louisiana; George Penn and wife Flo of Sioux City, Iowa; James Penn and wife Jay Christie of Albuquerque, New Mexico; and Tom Penn and wife Kelly of Mason City, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jeanne Lawrence of Shell Knob, Missouri; other relatives and friends. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2014, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Denison, Iowa, with Father Merle Kollasch serving as celebrant. Others participating in the mass included Servers: Logan Dahm and Austin Freese; Lector: Mike Breen; Gift Bearers: Sarah and Monica Penn; and Eucharistic Ministers: Joan Gray and Ron and Barb Songer. Music for the Mass was provided by St. Rose of Lima Adult Choir singing “On Eagle’s Wings”, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand”, “You Are Mine”, and “How Great Thou Art” with Jean Cornelius accompanying. Pallbearers were Ted Penn, George Penn, James Penn, Tom Penn, Rick Penn, and Tod Penn. Interment was at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Cemetery, Denison, Iowa. Following the graveside rites and burial, all were invited to return to the Parish Center for fellowship and a luncheon provided by the St. Rose of Lima Ladies Guild. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home

Denison, Iowa was in charge of arrangements where a Legion of Mary Rosary was held at 3:30 p.m. followed by a visitation from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and a Parish Vigil at 7:00 p.m. led by Father Merle Kollasch on Friday, June 13, 2014.
