Rosemary Soe, daughter of Melvin and Juanita (Jave) Nissen, was born on June 4, 1936 on a farm near Elk Horn, Iowa. She was baptized and confirmed at the Elk Horn Lutheran Church and attended country school in rural Elk Horn graduating from Elk Horn High School with the class of 1954.
After high school, Rosemary moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she worked for Mutual of Omaha. While at a dance in Kimballton, Iowa, she met Darrell Soe. During their engagement, Rosemary returned to Elk Horn and they were united in marriage on August 11, 1956. While Darrell was serving in the armed forces, Rosemary remained in Elk Horn where she worked a few years at the Weddum Hatchery.
Darrell and Rosemary were blessed with three children: twins Joni and Jeff and their youngest Troy. While the children were young, Rosemary was a stay at home mom. As the children grew, she returned to work at Madsen Oil where she was a bookkeeper for several years before working in the Salem Lutheran Home offices as a secretary. Rosemary was a lifetime active member of the Elk Horn Lutheran Church.
Rosemary then became a resident of the Salem Lutheran Home in 2011 and this is where she died on January 23, 2015 having attained the age of seventy-eight years, seven months and nineteen days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Terry Nissen.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Darrell Soe of Elk Horn, Iowa; her children: Joni and her husband Kevin Butts of Seattle, Washington; Jeff Soe and his wife Kim of Red Oak, Iowa and Troy Soe and his wife Marcia of Omaha, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Nicholas, Rachel, Matthew, Tara and Brandon Soe; nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
