Roy (Pappy) Lee Garvin
Roy (Pappy) Lee Garvin, was born to Ernest Garvin and Pearl Smith on January 16, 1947 in Barton, Missouri.
On December 13, 1967 Roy married Doris Patsy Sutton, to this union two children were born, Cherry and her sister Louise, Roy and Doris later divorced. On September 22, 1987 Roy married Judith Garvin where four children were brought into that union, Melissa, Jocelyn, Chris and Brad Sr.
Roy was always very proud of where he came from dating back all the way to his great grand father, Roy took an active role in his Native American Heritage of being part of the Oklahoma Cherokee Indian tribes. Roy took part in many of the surrounding Powwows each year and made many friends with locals Natives of the Sioux Tribes.
Roy always had a passion for helping others this is what led him to become an active EMT as well as later on he was the fire chief of a department near Lake Havasu Arizona. Roy worked for many years as a diesel mechanic until retiring around the year 2000.
Once retired Roy always found enjoyment working with his hands, no matter if it was wood working or leather work, he also enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was able as well as spending as much time as possible with his many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Roy passed away on Thursday March 31, 2016 at the age of sixty-nine years, two months and fifteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents; wives Doris and Judith Garvin, and son Brad Jacobs Sr.
Roy is survived by his daughters Cherry (Rick T.) Parham of Glenwood, IA; Louise Wood of Blair, NE; Melissa Barry, of Phoenix AZ; Jill (Melvin) Buffington of Council Bluffs, IA; Chris Jacobs, of Phoenix, AZ.
Roy was a loving grandfather that will be greatly missed by his grandchildren, Samantha, Victoria. Ashley Ann, Amanda, Jessica, Josh, Jesse, Ashley, Matthew, Brad Jr., Timothy, Benjamin; great grandchildren, Isabella, Eli, Connor, Kristi, Cayden, Jacelyn, Jetty, Rowan, Kane, Liam, Zander, plus many other nieces and nephews.
