Ruth Jane Crouch
July 22, 1935 — January 6, 2018
Ruth Jane (Jessen) Crouch, daughter of Elmer and Effie (Cue) Jessen of Exira, Iowa, was born July 22, 1935 along with her twin sister, Ruby. She and her sister were baptized on August 18, 1935, in the Lutheran Church in Exira, Iowa. She grew up and received her schooling in Exira, Iowa. She was confirmed also at the Lutheran Church of Exira.
She worked at the Exira Bakery as a teenager and also Blue Star Food Company in Atlantic.
Ruth met and married Ronald Keith Crouch on November 28, 1955 in Maryville, Missouri in a double ceremony with her twin sister, Ruby. To this union, she was blessed with 2 children, Shirley and Keith.
Her hobbies were embroidery, flower and vegetable gardens, and she loved family picnics. She was very close to her family and loved them all very much!
After suffering a stroke in 1995 and her husband with cancer, they entered the Manilla Manor September 2002 in Manilla, Iowa. She lost her husband, but remained living in the Manilla Manor until her Savior called her home on the 12th day of Christmas (1st day of Epiphany) January 6th, 2018 at the age of 82 years, 5 months, and 15 days.
Ruby was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Manilla and always attended the church services held at the Manor. She loved the activities and especially loved playing cards and Bingo.
I, Shirley, played with her a lot and she beat me in Rummy most of the time. I think she even would hold back so maybe I could beat her sometimes. She loved the people at the manor and got very close to many of them. She also loved the food there- anything with noodles and mashed potatoes and gravy especially.
Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband Ronald, son Keith Crouch of Deloit, granddaughter Rachel Neddermeyer, sisters Viola, Geneva, Ruby (her twin), Darlene, brothers Richard and Gary, also all of her in law sisters and brothers and many others she loved.
Those left to cherish her memory are: daughter, Shirley Morgan and her husband Jerry of Denison, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Brenda Crouch of Deloit, Iowa, grandchildren: Jeremy Morgan and his wife Lisa of Carroll, Iowa, Ryan Morgan and his wife Kayla of Denison, Iowa, Rebecca Crouch of Logan, Iowa, Andrea Beam and her husband Kevin of Manilla, Iowa, Melissa Jensen and her husband Koda of Kiron, Iowa, Nicholas Crouch and his fiancé Sydney of Deloit, Iowa, 10 great-grandchildren, 3 great- great- grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many friends.
