Ruth Ann Fletcher Buckholtz was born February 20, 1941, at Albert Lea, Minnesota, the daughter of John and Aradine Higgins Loverink. She was raised in Albert Lea until her high school years, when the family moved to Ida Grove, Iowa where she graduated with the class of 1959. After graduation, Ruth worked as a secretary at the Ida Grove City Hall. On January 15, 1961, Ruth was united in marriage with Denny Fletcher in Ida Grove, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children: Brad, Brian and LeAnn. They made their home in Denison where they operated Fletcher’s Furniture Store until Denny’s death on June 9, 1984. After the death of her husband, Ruth was employed at the Crawford County Memorial Hospital in the laundry department. On May 11, 1991, Ruth was united in marriage with Robert Buckholtz in Denison, Iowa. They made their home in Denison and Ruth was employed as the secretary for the Denison Baptist Church, where she was a member, until retiring. She currently attended Grace E Free church. In her spare time Ruth enjoyed sewing, quilting, gardening, and especially, time spent with her family and friends. Ruth died Tuesday afternoon, February 18, 2014 at Eventide Lutheran Home in Denison, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 72 years, 11 months and 28 days. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Denny, and brother, John Loverink. Those remaining to lovingly cherish her memory are her husband, Robert Buckholtz of Denison, Iowa; sons: Brad Fletcher and Brian Fletcher and wife Jean, all of Denison, Iowa, and daughter, LeAnn Summerfield and husband Jeff of Sloan, Iowa; step-daughters: Bobbie Zeimen and husband Paul of Baxter, Iowa, and Robin Bohlin and husband Scott of Arion, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandson; brother, David Loverink and wife Sharon and sister, Carolyn McShane, all of Austin, Minnesota; beloved cousin, Leona Thompson of Denison, Iowa; dear friend Karol Hast of Denison, Iowa; other relatives and friends.
Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, February 23, 2014, at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, with Pastor Brian Rihner officiating. Music for the service included a congregational hymn of “Jesus Is Coming Again” with Karen Kahl serving as organist and a recorded selection of “I’ll Fly Away” by Jars of Clay. Honorary pallbearers included Christopher Summerfield, Haven Summerfield, Cail Fletcher, Caden Fletcher, Brendan Bohlin and Connor Bohlin. Following the services all were invited to join the family at Grace E Free Church in Denison for fellowship and a luncheon prepared and served by the Ladies of Grace. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
