Sandra Sue (Frank) Kelley, the daughter of Gerald and Maude (Fogarty) Frank was born May 1, 1935, in Shelby County, Iowa. She grew up on the family farm just east of Kirkman, Iowa. She was active in Rainbow and 4-H and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church, beginning in Kirkman. She graduated from Kirkman High school and married Thomas B. Kelley in June 1953. They then moved to Camp LeJeune in North Carolina where Tom was stationed with the United States Marine Corps.
After Tom's enlistment was up, they moved to a farmhouse between Kirkman and Irwin. After a few years they moved to Harlan, Iowa. First living on Hill Street, then Baldwin Street, and finally Lincoln Avenue. Sandra lived on Lincoln Avenue until she relocated to Hansen House in Harlan in 2019. Three children were born to this union, Jeffrey, Brian, and Todd. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years until the boys were older. Then she worked for Harlan Feed Service, Pauley Jones Funeral Home, ZC Sterling/CI Direct and Concerned. Sandra had a very strong work ethic. She was very proud of the fact that she worked until she was 75 years old. She and Tom went their separate ways in 1994. Over the years she met Stan Kracht, and they became special friends for nearly 20 years. Sandra enjoyed taking care of her lawn and working on her flowerpots and her roses. She knitted and sewed, was an avid reader, liked to dance and spend special time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Sandra died on December 7,2024. She attained the age of 89 years, 6 months and 7 days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Gail.
Survivors include her children: Jeff Kelley and his wife Deb of Ida Grove Iowa; Brian Kelley and his wife Carol of Eagle Grove Iowa; Todd Kelley and his wife Stacey of Harlan, Iowa: 6 grandchildren: Paul Kelley, Kristin Boysen (Nathan Boysen)and their children, Colton, Carson and Maggie; Craig Kelley (Kayla Kelley) and their children, Harrison and Mackenzie; Marissa Kelley and her children Caylin and Lauren; Patrick Kelley (Mary Kelley) and their children, Leon, Delaney and George; and Erin Schaben (Evan Schaben) and their children, Boe and Walker; sister-in-law, Sheryl Frank, niece Shelley Dunham, and nephew Montgomery Frank all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; other relatives and many friends.
