Shawna Leigh Klindt

Shawna Leigh Klindt, daughter of Ivan and Kathleen (Campbell) Fries, was born on November 5, 1964, in Harlan, Iowa. She graduated from Harlan Community High School with the class of 1983. She later graduated from Iowa Western Community College and attended Buena Vista University.
She was united in marriage to Charlie Summers, Jr. in July of 1982. Three daughters were born to this union: Carly, Stacy, and Emilee. In October of 2011 she was united in marriage to Robert "Smoky" Klindt.
Shawna enjoyed a long-time career in banking and most recently insurance, but most people would remember her from her days at Victoria Station where she loved to cook.
She was very active in the community being a part of Toastmasters, the Iowa Western Community College Alumni Board, and serving as president of Optimist Club.
Shawna enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She had a love of sewing, baking, and playing cards.
Shawna died on July 9, 2023, at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa at the age of 58. She is proceeded in death by her mother Kathleen.
Survivors include her husband Robert "Smoky" Klindt of Council Bluffs, IA; children Carly Summers of Waukee, IA; Stacy (Mike) Christensen of Harlan, IA; Emilee (Steven) Russell of Omaha, NE; Jonathan (Ashlie) Klindt of Harlan, IA; 8 grandchildren Avery, Ada, Jude, Braxton, Sadie, Mikey, Max, & Leo; father Ivan Fries of Irwin, IA; siblings Jeff (Connie) Fries of Ralston, NE; Kevin (Brenda) Fries of Harlan, IA; Leslie (Tim) Eischeid of Halbur, IA.
