Shirley LaVon Bladt, the daughter of Herbert and Verna (Suhr) Jacobsen, was born on July 7, 1935 in Walnut, Iowa. She graduated from Walnut High School with the class of 1954. After graduation she was united into marriage to Donald Bladt on June 20, 1954 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa. Four children were born to this marriage: Debra Kay, Kathy Sue, Jeffery Dean and Brenda Lee.
She worked at the Super 8 and bartended most of her life. She had a knack for numbers and thus led her to be the bookkeeper at Phillips 66 gas station and The Dairy Sweet which they managed. Shirley loved her family and cherished all relationships with her children, eight grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren and her four great great-grandchildren.
Shirley passed away at the Nebraska Medical Center on Wednesday, October 3, 2018, attaining the age of eighty-three years, two months and twenty-six days. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Dean, infant son Jeffery Dean and her brothers Herbert Jr. and Larry Jacobsen.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Debra (Ralph) Adams of Thornton, Colorado; Kathy Weston of Stanton, Iowa; Brenda (Bruce) Walter of Walnut, Iowa; grandchildren Christine (Anthony) Smiley of Walnut, Iowa; Dana Clark of St. Joseph, Missouri; Amber Dorman of Maryville, Missouri; Emily Rebarcak of Atlantic, Iowa; Aaron Rebarcak of Atlantic, Iowa; Paige (Tad) Burke of Eureka, Montana; Brian (Mandy) Walter of Boone, Iowa; Brandi (John) Wittrock of Anita, Iowa; 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great-grandchildren; sister Sharon Yearsley of Omaha, Nebraska; nieces and nephews, other family and many friends.
