Shirley Marie Brensel, daughter of Raymond and Rosella (Daniel) Kasperbauer was born August 6, 1952. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Patrick’s Church in Audubon, Iowa. She attended school in Gray, Audubon, and Irwin.
On November 14, 1970, Shirley was united in marriage to Ricky Ray Brensel. The couple made their home in Irwin. A short time later they moved to Harlan, where they eventually bought a house and raised their family. Shirley worked at Gibson’s later known as Pamida. She worked as a stay at home mom, scale house, finally finished out her career cleaning homes.
Shirley loved being with her family! She was an excellent seamstress! She made clothes, blankets, curtains and countless dolls. She was also very good at putting up wallpaper. For years every Christmas she would make wonderful cookies and give them to family and friends.
She died peacefully on August 21, 2022 with her family close at Myrtue Medical Center in Harlan, attaining the age of seventy years and fifteen days. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by her husband Rick and her sister Sandy Nelson.
She has left to cherish her memory; children; Lisa Zamago of Denison, IA, Aaron (Martha) Brensel of Blair, NE, and Justin (Kim) Brensel of Vincent, IA; Siblings; Kathy (Larry) Kington of Irwin, IA, Allen (Renee) Kasperbauer of Goodyear, AZ, Denny (Karen) Kasperbauer of Carroll, IA, Carol (Stuart) Beam of Defiance, IA; brother-in-law, Doug Nelson of Harlan, IA: grandsons; Gabriel, Myles, Stuart, Seth, Brayden, Zander, Jack, and Griffin; great-grand children; Kamia, Wesley; brand new baby and one on the way; special friend; Wayne Gessert, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
