Steven Charles Sutton, age 71 years, passed away October 19, 2023 in Avoca, IA.
Steve was born to Harvey and Geraldine (Heilig) Sutton on May 3, 1952 in Harlan, IA. Like many young people in the 1960s, Steve was struck by Beatlemania and went on to share his love of the Beatles, guitar, and music with his daughters and grandchildren. A lifelong learner, Steve enjoyed researching, discussing, and theorizing about the physical cosmology of the universe and quantum physics. He spent most of his working years as a laborer in and around the Council Bluffs area, particularly enjoying his time spent tending to plants and flowers at Dallas Johnson Greenhouse. In retirement, Steve enjoyed visiting the local library computer station to connect with individuals from all over the world that shared his interests and curiosities about the universe. He also liked to send text messages to his family with spontaneous bits of trivia or the football scores of their favorite teams- something they will miss.
Steve was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather, Clyde Robinson.
He is survived by his daughters Tammy Stuart and Amy (Matt) Shannon of Council Bluffs, IA; grandchildren Mark (Jessica) Stuart, Matt Stuart, and Eltyn Shannon of Council Bluffs, IA, Taylor Stuart of Brooklyn, NY; siblings Dave (Sherlyn) Sutton of Adel, IA, Carl (Mary) Sutton of Olathe, KS, Jeff (Tammy) Sutton of Red Oak, IA; many nieces and nephews.
In honor of Steve’s wishes, the family will hold a private memorial at a later time.
