Suzanne (Sue) Gross, 78, of Westphalia, Iowa, passed away on December 6, 2023. Sue was born in Holly, MI on April 19, 1945. When Sue's father passed away, they moved to Dedham, Iowa to be near family. Her mother remarried and the family moved to Irwin, Iowa
She graduated from Manning High School in 1963 after attending school at Irwin-Kirkman until her junior year. She was always invited to class reunions for both Irwin-Kirkman and Manning High School.
Sue was married to Jerry Gross on February 27, 1965, which also happened to be Jerry's birthday, to ensure Jerry never forgot their wedding anniversary. Jerry & Sue were happily married for 58 years. Four children were born from this union. Michele (Shellie) was born in 1967, Brian in 1968, Kevin in 1970 and Matthew in 1976. Jerry and Sue enjoyed the ups and downs of marriage and faithfully raised their family in the Catholic Church.
Sue retired from Communication Data Services (CDS) after working many years at the Credit Union in Westphalia and then continued to work at the Credit Union even after they relocated to Harlan. Sue loved to play Bunco on a weekly basis with her friends in the area. She had a creative soul and enjoyed doing ceramics and other crafts.
Sue was a gifted vocalist and participated in many musicals in high school. She would later be asked to utilize her vocal talents at weddings, funerals etc.
Sue passed away peacefully art her daughter, Shellie’s home in Dallas Center, Iowa on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 attaining the age 78 years, 7 months, 17 days. She was preceded in death by her parents, Janet Srangle and Wilfred Gaul and her son, Kevin Gross.
She is survived by her husband, Jerome “Jerry” Gross of Westphalia, IA; children,
Shellie (Dale) Schaben of Dallas Center, IA, Brian (Dianne) Gross of Omaha, NE, Matthew Gross of Westphalia, IA; 5 Grandchildren, Aaron (Stephanie) Schaben, Blake (Marguerite) Schaben, Mackenzie Schaben, Jackson Gross and Ava Gross; siblings, Dennis (Bonny) Gaul of WA, Gary (Claudia) Gaul of OK, Dale (Darlene) McDonald of CO, John (Victoria) McDonald of CA, and Carl (Susan) Stam of CO; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
