T. Edwin Weiss was born in Denison, Iowa, February 27, 1940, the only child of Theodore W. and Eunice Golda McQuigg Weiss. He was raised in Denison where he graduated from the Denison High School with the class of 1958. He then furthered his education at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa, where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in 1962. On September 4, 1965, Ed was united in marriage with Martha Jordan in St. Louis, Missouri. Their union was blessed with two children, Andrew and Jennifer. They made their home in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where Ed was employed with Pennsylvania Railroad. In 1967, Ed’s career took them to Cleveland, Ohio, where he was employed by Penn Central Railroad. In 1973, the Weiss’ moved to Omaha, Nebraska where Ed was a marketing manager for Union Pacific Railroad from which he retired in 2000. He spent his retirement years in Omaha and, from 2003 until January of 2010, Ed worked part time for Petersen Manufacturing in Denison, Iowa. Ed died from complications of Parkinson Disease early Saturday morning, January 11, 2014, at Brookestone Meadows in Elkhorn, Nebraska. At the time of his death he had been blessed with 73 years, 10 months and 14 days. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Eunice Weiss. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Martha Weiss of Omaha, Nebraska, two children and spouses: Andrew and Elizabeth Weiss, St. Louis, MO, and Jennifer and D.J. Hennager, Iowa City, IA; and granddaughters: Ella and Cecelia Hennager, Iowa City, IA.
Private family graveside services and burial were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison, Iowa with Dan C. Pfannebecker officiating. A public memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 17, 2014 at Brookestone Meadows, Elkhorn, Nebraska with Rev. Thomas G. Meradith officiating. Following the service everyone was invited to fellowship and a luncheon at Brookestone Meadows. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Parkinson Disease Association or to the charity of your choice.
