Teresa D. Madden, daughter of Duane and Dorothy (Carver) Petersen, was born on September 15, 1962, in Sumter, South Carolina. Due to her father being in the military, Teresa attended various schools in Michigan, Texas, and Florida. Her parents later settled in Avoca, Iowa, where she graduated from AvoHa High School with the class of 1981.
Teresa was united in marriage to Chuck Madden on June 18, 1983, at the United Church of Avoca. They were the parents of three children; Chuck, Jr., Corey and Taylor.
Teresa was employed at The Villager in Walnut, Iowa during and after high school. She worked at Wichita Beef, Nebraska Box Beef and Omaha Hyde, all in Omaha, Nebraska. She then worked out of her home as a babysitter and raising her own children. The last twelve years she worked for Nebraska Beef in Omaha. Due to her health, she retired in May of 2006.
Teresa enjoyed going to her boys' car races, swimming, bowling, playing volleyball, camping, traveling and riding the motorcycle with Chuck. She also enjoyed attending any and all activities in which her children participated. She was a dedicated and loving wife and mother who instilled the importance of hard work to her kids.
Teresa died on Tuesday, January 2, 2007, at the Avoca Nursing and Rehab Center. She attained the age of forty-four years, three months and eighteen days. She is preceded in death by her father.
She is survived by her husband, Chuck Madden, Sr., of Avoca; her children: Chuck Madden, Jr, Corey Madden and Taylor Madden, all of Avoca; her mother, Dorothy and her husband John Thomas of Port St. John, Florida; a brother, Duane Petersen, Jr. of Palm Bay, Florida; a sister, Natalie and her husband Kirby Gaines of Grand Junction, Colorado; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Funeral Services were held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 10:30 AM at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Avoca, Iowa with Pastor Dennis Reich officiating. Serving as casket bearers were Tom O'Neill, Mike Manion, Todd Pauley, Mike Petersen, Brad Thornton, Gene Pauley, Fred Fromi and Doug Pauley. Interment was held in Graceland Cemetery, Avoca, Iowa.
