Terry Charles Goeres
August 24, 1951 — August 16, 2020
Terry was born August 24, 1951 in Harlan, Iowa to Clarence and Virginia (Altman) Goeres. He was baptized and a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Defiance. He attended school at St. Paul's School in Defiance until the 10th grade and graduated from Harlan Community in 1969.
Terry married his wife Dianne (Bissen) on July 21st, 1973. They were blessed with three children, Scott, Brian and Adam.
Terry attended Sioux City Barber College and opened a barber shop in Esterville, Iowa in 1972. In 1974, they returned to Defiance and he began a 40 year career at Farmland Foods in Denison, Iowa.
Hunting and fishing dominated Terry's life. Between early mornings waiting for deer to cross his path and days spent throwing bobbers and jigs at crappie, Terry was always thinking about the outdoors. If he wasn't hunting or fishing, he was talking about hunting and fishing.
Terry died on August 16, 2020 at the age of 68 years, 11 months and 23 days. He was proceeded in death by his mother, Virginia, father, Clarence, brother Steven and sister Victoria.
Terry is survived by his wife Dianne, son Scott (Lisa), son Brian (Jennifer), son Adam, grandchildren Hayden and Bailey, sister Cindi (Chris) Barton and nieces and nephews.
