Thomas David Fastje was born in Denison, Iowa, March 20, 1959, the son of Frederick William (Bill) and Delores Rothfolk Fastje, Jr. He was raised in Denison where he received his education graduating from high school with the class of 1977. He then furthered his education for one year at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, Iowa. In 1980, Thomas was united in marriage with Mary Beth Yohnke in Wall Lake, Iowa. Their union was blessed with two sons, Jacob and Benjamin. They made their home in Des Moines where Thomas held various jobs with several different companies. In 2008, Thomas moved to Denison, Iowa where he had since resided. Thomas was an avid outdoorsman where he spent most of his free time fishing, hunting, and camping. Other activities he enjoyed include playing frisbee golf, pool, darts, ping pong, cards, kite flying, cooking, and listening to music. He was happiest when spending time with his sons. Thomas died quite un-expectantly of an apparent heart attack at his home in Denison, Iowa, Wednesday, October 17, 2012. At the time of his death he had been blessed with 53 years, 6 months and 27 days. Thomas was preceded in death by his father, Frederick William (Bill) Fastje, Jr. Those remaining to cherish his memory include two sons: Jacob Fastje and Benjamin Fastje both of Des Moines, Iowa; former wife, Mary Beth Fastje of Des Moines, Iowa; his mother, Delores Fastje of Denison, Iowa; one brother, Dan Fastje and his wife Cindy of Denison, Iowa; two nephews: Nicholas Fastje of St. Paul, Minnesota and Nathan Fastje of Denison, Iowa, other relatives and friends. Memorial services were held at the Pfannebecker Funeral Home in Denison,Iowa, at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 27, 2012, with Dan Pfannebecker officiating. Visitation was from 1:00 until time of service. Following the services the family invited everyone to join them at Cronks Gold Room for refreshments and fellowship. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home,
