Thomas Marvin Schuler was born on November 11, 1928 to Walter and Ester ( Lloyd) Schuler in Grant, Iowa. He attended Avoca Schools graduating with the class of 1946. Thomas was the captain of both the football and basketball teams.
Thomas married Diane Pedersen on August 13, 1949 in Papillion, Nebraska. They were blessed with five children: Marvin, Natalie, Sheri, Lisa and Paula, and one foster son Russell Plank.
Thomas and Diane made their home in Oakland, Iowa. Thomas drove truck for most of his life until health issues caused him to retire in 2013. He enjoyed watching football and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan.
In 2014 Thomas Diane moved to Elm Crest Retirement Home in Harlan, Iowa.
Thomas died on Monday September 21, 2015 in Hospice Care at Elm Crest in Harlan, Iowa having attained the age of eighty six years, ten months and ten days. He is preceded in death by his parents and wife of sixty six years Diane.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Marvin Schuler and his wife Donna of Avoca, Iowa; Natalie and her husband John Felhofer of Hudson, Wisconsin; Sheri and her husband George Chrouser of Stratford, Wisconsin; Lisa and her husband Tim “Wally” Schulz of West Bend, Wisconsin; and Paula and her husband Randy Dreyer of Luxemburg, Wisconsin; nineteen grandchildren; twenty nine great grandchildren; one great grandchild and foster son: Russell Plank and his wife Sylvia of Boise, Idaho; other relatives and friends.
