Trent Lee Smith, son of Garry and Thelma (Schwarte) Smith was born April 24, 1972 in Harlan, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Harlan. He attended grade school at St. Michael’s then attended Harlan Community High School where he graduated with the class of 1991.
After high school, Trent worked No Frills in Denison then moved on to Hy-Vee in Waterloo and Des Moines, Iowa. He then went to work for A+ Lawn and Landscaping in Des Moines before ending up at Midwest Wheel in Des Moines as a car and truck parts distributor. Trent took work very serious and was particular about how things were done. He loved his co-workers and they loved him.
Trent was able to welcome two blessings into his life, his daughters Natalie and Kenley, they enjoyed the time they spent together and watching lots of movies together. He also liked playing darts and watching NASCAR and rooting for his favorite driver Mark Martin. Trent had a one-of-a-kind sense of humor along with being very forgiving and good hearted, he was always willing to help someone in need.
Trent died surrounded by his loving family on Monday, March 20, 2017 at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines, Iowa, attaining the age of forty-four years, ten months and twenty-four days. He was preceded in death by his father Garry.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughters Natalie and Kenley Smith of Van Meter, Iowa; mother Thelma Nelson of Harlan, Iowa; brothers Tim Smith and his significant other Holly of Blair, Nebraska; Todd Smith and his fiancé Shireen of Omaha, Nebraska; Troy Smith of Shelby, Iowa; sister Traci Smith and her significant other Mark Haynes of Harlan, Iowa; nieces and nephews, other family members and many friends.
