Troy Bomstad
June 22, 1966 — February 18, 2017
Troy Michael Bomstad, son of Gary and Kathy (Palmer) Bomstad, was born June 22, 1966 in Britt, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at the Zion Lutheran Church in Garner, Iowa. He was active in football, basketball, track and baseball at Garner High School, where he graduated with the class of 1984. He went on to continue his education at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa for one year and later received various certificates in finance and sales.
In 1985, Troy was united in marriage to Mara Barratt. Five children were born to this union: Tommy, Samantha, twins Nick and Max, and Alexis.
Troy spent more than thirty years as a finance manager in automotive sales. He was a man that always believed in giving and putting others needs before his own. He would open his home to anyone in need, and under special circumstances he gained a true friend and hero status to a young man named Corey Lee. Troy married Denise Bazemore and became a stepfather to three children: Savannah, Patrick and Sierra Green.
Troy enjoyed spending time outdoors in all seasons either hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, boating, golfing and even taking lessons to become a pilot. He was proud of his children and loved attending their school and sporting events. His favorite time of year was during the Christmas holiday and loved shopping for families in need.
Troy died on February 18, 2017 at his home in Roanoke, Virginia attaining the age of fifty years, seven month and twenty-seven days. He was preceded in death by his twin boys, Nick and Max; his wife Denise and maternal grandparents Paul and Loretta Palmer.
He is survived by his children: Tommy Bomstad and his fiancé Nicole Mowery of Norwalk, Iowa; Samantha Bomstad and her girlfriend Heather Wittrock of Johnston, Iowa and Alexis Bomstad and her boyfriend David Owens of Carroll, Iowa; stepchildren Savannah, Patrick and Sierra Green all of Florida; mother Kathy and her husband Bob Reid of Centerton, Arkansas; father Gary Bomstad and his wife Wendy of Garner, Iowa; grandchildren A.J. Bomstad, Thomas Gunner Bomstad, Ashtyn Owens, Audrey "Rosie" Owens; brothers: Rob Bomstad and his wife Gina of Siloam Springs, Arkansas and Shane Bomstad and his wife Dayna of Saint Louis, Missouri; nieces and nephews; other family members and many friends.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family where they will be directed to a charity in Troy's honor.
