Vaughn Gross

Vaughn J. Gross, son of John and Anneliese (Lörwald) Gross was born on May 13, 1954 in Manning, Iowa. He was the oldest of three children born. Vaughn lived his entire life in Earling, Iowa; being baptized at Saint Joseph’s Catholic Church in Earling. He attended grade school at Saint Joseph’s Catholic School and high school in Harlan.
In his younger years, Vaughn loved to own and ride motorcycles. He liked to travel when he could and he always enjoyed a good visit, especially with relatives. In 1965, he traveled with his parent’s and brother Dale to Brunskappel, Germany to visit his mother’s side of the family. He later made another trip to Germany with his mother and always spoke very fondly of those visits. Vaughn was a good-hearted individual and was always willing to help those in need. He was well known for sharing garden produce far and wide whenever he had extra.
Vaughn died on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his home in Earling attaining the age of sixty-four years, seven months and twelve days. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Dale who died in 1997 and his sister Mary Lucia who died at birth in 1960. Vaughn was never married. He is survived by many cousins and friends.
