Virginia Christine Pash, the daughter of Nealy and Christine Nelson Frederickson, was born on January 12, 1925 in Shelby, Iowa. She was born in the upstairs of Uncle Eddy and Aunt Ruby Nelson’s home. Nealy and Christine were farmers. She attended school in Avoca and graduated from Avoca High School in 1943.
After graduating she worked for Schriefer-Lohafer Insurance Agency in Avoca for a number of years. She was united in marriage to Lester Pash at the English Lutheran Church in Avoca on August 29, 1948. They were the parents of two sons: Neal and Darren. Lester and Virginia farmed Southeast of Hancock and also outside of Shelby for a number of years before purchasing and moving to their new farm east of Anita in 1968, where they would live out their years farming and spending time together. Lester and Virginia were both hard workers who loved the farm life…raising livestock and grain farming.
Virginia passed away at the age of 98 at Heritage House in Atlantic on Friday October 20, where she spent only the last few years of her life. She was able to stay on the farm until she was 94. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: David and Eugene (Sonny).
She is survived by her two sons: Neal Pash and friend Diane Jones of Council Bluffs, Iowa and Darren Pash and his wife Janice of Portage, Ohio and one grandson Hogan Pash of Portage.
