When Wanda was a young child the family moved to Danbury, Iowa, where she was reared, receiving her education at the Danbury Public School. Following her schooling she moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she was employed until her marriage. On June 8, 1949, Wanda was united in marriage with LeMoine Kenneth Trucke at Elk Point, South Dakota. Their union was blessed with five children: Kenneth, Jeannette, Lee Ann, Trish and Barb. They made their home Verona, North Dakota, for four years before moving to the farm near Danbury, Iowa. They raised their family at Danbury where Wanda stayed home with the children keeping busy doing chores, canning, baking and sewing. She always made time to take the children fishing and swimming in the creek during the summers. Many summer evenings LeMoine and Wanda would play ball with their children and the neighbor kids with Wanda’s garden often taking the brunt of that activity. After their youngest daughter was two years of age, Wanda started selling Avon and worked nights at the café in Danbury.
