Wayne Walter Kruger was born at Buck Grove, Iowa, July 14, 1936, the son of Walter Frederick and Louise Anna Hesse Kruger. He was raised on the family farm south of Vail and graduated from the Westside High School with the Class of 1955. On January 18, 1958, Wayne was united in marriage with Delores Brockelsby in Vail, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children: Jeffrey, Valerie and Robert. They made their home on the family farm at Vail where they farmed from 1958 until 1987. In 1988 Wayne and Delores moved to Vail where they started their business of Valley Management in 1989 as Wayne began his career in real estate management and sales. In addition to his management business Wayne also was employed as an agent with the Hoffman Agency in Denison. Wayne was an active member of United Presbyterian Church in Vail, serving as Elder and Deacon throughout his life. Always dedicated to the betterment of the community of Vail, Wayne was a member of the Vail Community Club, served on the Vail City Council and was currently serving as Mayor of Vail. He also greatly enjoyed his active memberships in the Diamond Lodge No. 442, A.F. & A. M. and Olive Branch Chapter of Eastern Star in Vail. In his spare time he enjoyed antiques, traveling and feeding the birds and squirrels. Wayne will be fondly remembered by his family as a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Wayne died suddenly at his home in Vail Friday morning, November 4, 2011, having been blessed with 75 years, 3 months and 20 days. Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Louise Kruger and two brothers, Leslie and Robert Kruger. Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife of over 53 years, Delores Kruger of Vail, three children: Jeffrey Kruger and wife Judy of Arcadia, Iowa; Valerie O’Neal and husband Michael of Folly Beach, South Carolina; Robert Joseph Kruger and wife Pamela of Houston, Texas; seven grandchildren: Craig Alan Reynolds of Paris, Texas, Katie Sue Botos of Gold Canyon, Arizona, Abbie Jean Kruger of Summerville, South Carolina, Sean Michael O’Neal, Emma Louise O’Neal and Andrew Patrick O’Neal all of Folly Beach, South Carolina and Andrew Russell Myers of Arcadia, Iowa; and three great grandchildren: William Wayne Botos of Kansas City, Missouri, Owen Jeffrey Botos of Gold Canyon, Arizona and T.D. Reynolds of Paris, Texas; two sisters: Elizabeth Pollock of Salt Lake City, Utah and Dorothy Petersen of Early, Iowa; other relatives and friends.  Visitation for Wayne was held on Tuesday, November 8, 2011, at the United Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Masonic Service conducted by Mark Conner and the Diamond Lodge No. 442 A.F.& A.M. of Vail. Memorial services were held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2011, at the United Presbyterian Church in Vail, Iowa, with the Rev. Richard Francis officiating. Music for the service included the congregational hymns of “How Great Thou Art” and “In The Garden” with Ruth Noelck serving as accompanist. Immediately following the services all were invited to join the family in the fellowship hall for a luncheon prepared and served by the Vail United Presbyterian Women. In lieu of inurnment at this time, Wayne was lovingly entrusted to his caring family. The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
