Wilbert Robert Piittmann
June 24, 1926 — August 20, 2019
Wilbert Robert Piittmann was born on June 24, 1926 in Hancock, Iowa. He was one of seven kids born to Christian and Mary (Berge) Piittmann. During his high school years he played basketball and had to shoot the ball under hand. He was most often late to school because he did chores in the morning. He graduated with the Hancock High School class of 1944.
Upon graduation, Wilbert entered into active service with the United States Army on March 21, 1951 in Omaha, Nebraska. He obtained the occupation of Chief Clerk until his honorable discharge on March 3, 1953 at Camp Carson in Colorado.
On August 20, 1999 he was united into marriage to Kathleen Weaver in Oakland, Iowa. He had a passion for farming, loved visiting with friends and would most always be seen driving his tractor to Minden to visit friends.
Wilbert passed away on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Avoca Specialty Care having attained the age of ninety-three years, one month and twenty-seven days. In addition to his parents, he is preceded into death by his wife Kathleen; brothers and sister Florence, Harry, Melvin, Elmer, Everett and Raymond; niece Shirley Hoffmann; nephews Alan Piittmann and Eugene Piittmann.
Left to cherish his memory are his nieces and nephews Dennis (Carolyn) Piittmann of Avoca, Iowa; Delmon (Norma Jean) Piittmann of Ankeny, Iowa; Gerald (Diane) Piittmann of Waukon, Iowa; Duane Piittmann of Walnut, Iowa; Becky (Paul) Jensen of Minnesota; Peggy (LeRoy) Hansen of Minden, Iowa; Randy Piittmann of Griswold, Iowa; Nancy Kelly of Avoca, Iowa; other family and many friends.
