Services: 1:30 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2014 at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, IowaGraveside Ceremonies and Inurnment: 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa Yorng Lovan was born in Laos June 10, 1920, the son of Song and Khoun LoTi Lovan.  He was raised there and North Vietnam graduating from Lao High School. In 1954, Yorng was united in marriage with Ky LoTi in Laos and they became the parents of four children: Doung, Samsack, Deng and Toune. Prior to coming to the United States in 1981, Yorng had resided in Thailand.  After coming to the United States he was employed at Portal Foundry in Keokuk, Iowa, until retiring in 1982.  For the last several years he had resided in Denison, Iowa.Yorng died Sunday, April 27, 2014, at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, having attained the age of 93 years, 10 months and 17 days.Yorng was preceded in death by his parents, Song and Khoun Lovan and one sister LoTi Saw.  Those remaining to cherish his memory include his wife, Ky Lovan of Denison, Iowa, four children: Doung Lovan and Samsack Lovan of Laos, Deng Rasavong of Las Vegas, Nevada, and Toune Lovan and spouse Diem Lovan of Denison, Iowa; 7 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2014, at Pfannebecker Funeral Home, Denison, Iowa, with the family officiating.Graveside services and burial was held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Glendale Cemetery, Des Moines, Iowa.The Pfannebecker Funeral Home, www.pfannebecker.com , Denison, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
