Following cremation, a private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date at Crawford Heights Memory Gardens, Denison, Iowa.
Yuriko McClellan was born in Zushi, Japan, January 18, 1927, the daughter of Shigeru and Miki Nagatsuka Morota. She was raised in Korea and Japan where she graduated from high school. On April 28, 1964, Yuriko was united in marriage with Fred H. McClellan, Jr. at the United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan. During Fred’s career with the U.S. Navy they made their homes in Japan, Okinawa, Guam and several areas of the United States. Upon his retirement in 1979 they made their home in Denison, Iowa, where Yuriko was a homemaker and enjoyed taking care of her family. Fred died November 25, 2009, and following his death Yuriko moved to Vista, California for a brief time before returning to Iowa, making her home in Glidden. Yuriko died early Thursday, June 26, 2014, at St. Anthony Nursing Home in Carroll, Iowa. At the time of her death she had been blessed with 87 years, 5 months and 8 days. Yuriko was preceded in death by her parents and husband. Those remaining to cherish her memory include two sons: Norio Morota and wife Kathleen of Vista, California; and Michael McClellan and wife Linda of Glidden, Iowa; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
