Yvonne Dagmar Jensen, 78, of Kimballton, died Wednesday, April 1, 2015, finding peace in heaven after battling illness for several years.

Yvonne was born on September 7, 1936, in Audubon, Iowa, the daughter of Donald and Dorcas (Andersen) Randolph. She graduated from Elk Horn-Kimballton High School and furthered her education at Lindenwood College in St. Charles, Missouri.

On March 3, 1957, she married Dale Jensen at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Audubon. They became parents to three children: Melodi, Douglas, and Jan.

She was proud to be a loving and dedicated housewife to Dale, and to attend her children’s numerous activities. She was a constant source of inspiration and support for her children throughout their lives. She was an avid sports fan, especially to her daughter Jan’s Iowa women’s basketball team and for all Hawkeye sports. Later in life, she worked at her son Doug’s tavern in Kimballton, where she served up good cheer and smiles to patrons who grew to love her.

Yvonne also kept busy with her own hobbies and activities. She bowled on the same team for more than fifty years. She was an excellent cook and baker, and passed those talents on to her children. She knew how to throw a classy party - even on the spur of the moment - and took pride in setting a beautiful table, complete with fancy table cloths and silver platters.

Yvonne was a talented musician, serving as church organist for many years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville, Iowa. She also played for weddings and accompanied her daughter Melodi for many solo performances. She played the piano, accordion and flute, and had a beautiful singing voice. She also acted in several local plays and taught piano lessons and bible school for more than forty years.

Early in her life, she was a member of the Shelby County Republican Party. She also served as a member of the Kimballton City Council and the Kimballton Library Board.

Yvonne was always willing to help others, often the first to sign up to help at her church or in her community. She developed friends easily, even when meeting a person for the first time.

Most of all, Yvonne loved to have fun and loved to laugh, especially with her friends and family. Her quick, beautiful smile and caring soul will be missed by all who knew her.

Yvonne battled different illnesses over the past few years and lost her battle on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at the age of seventy-eight years, six months, and twenty-five days. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Annabelle Christensen.

She is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Dale Jensen of Kimballton, Iowa; her children: Melodi Jenkins of Sioux City, Iowa, Doug Jensen of Kimballton, and his girlfriend Kathy Sorensen of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and her daughter Jan Jensen and her partner Julie Fitzpatrick of Coralville, Iowa; six grandchildren: Greyson, Deming, and Griffin Jenkins, Ashley Jensen, and Jack and Janie Jensen-Fitzpatrick; brother Donald Randolph, Jr. of Port Charlotte, Florida; other family members and many friends who will miss her deeply.
